HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON LONG DISTANCE MOVES

Save your money

Long distance moves can be quite expensive. Not only do you have to pay for the travel, but you need to deal with all of the packing, transporting and maybe even storage. The good news is that you can lower the expense of long distance moves by following these tips.

SCHEDULE AHEAD

One of the most expensive parts of long distance moves is paying for storage. Try to avoid storage as much as possible. If you can’t avoid it, consider storing your belongings with us. We have some of the lowest rates in the country, and when you’re ready for your stuff, we’ll drive it out to you.

PACK WITH FREE BOXES

You can find free boxes at grocery stories and big department stores. You will just need to ask for them and go at the end of the day when they usually receive their shipments.

If you can’t find free boxes or don’t have time to track them down, call Loyal Moving. We have boxes for sale and they are affordable. We know that moving can be expensive, so we price them competitively.

The other option is that you can hire us to do your packing. The boxes are included in the packing. Just give us a call for a free quote.

Consider Driving Over Flying

Flying can be much more expensive than driving. Try to drive to your new home, even if you have to take a few days to get there. It will be worth the extra time and effort to save a lot of money.

PACK WHAT YOU CAN IN YOUR VEHICLES

The more you take with you, the less money you have to spend on moving it. Try to bring as much as you can in your family’s vehicles. This means that you may have to drive separately, but if you have multiple vehicles, you’ll have to do that anymore. Transporting your vehicles usually cost much more than just driving them.

BOOK HOTELS AHEAD OF TIME AND LOOK FOR DEALS

If you need to stay overnight somewhere, don’t wait until you get there to book a night. Schedule the trip ahead of time and then book a hotel. You will be able to get a better deal that way.

You can find many coupons online. Ask about AAA discounts or any other perks you get for being a member of an organizations. Usually, you can get the hotel to give you a discount on top of the deal they first give you.

BRING BLOWUP MATTRESSES

Instead of spending time in a hotel as you wait for your furniture and belongings to arrive, bring blowup mattresses to camp out on the floor. It will be your first memories of living there and you’ll save a lot of money from not using a hotel.
